A few days ago, a pristine strategy document landed in my inbox. It was full of high-flying buzzwords like “synergistic paradigms” and “holistic leverage”.

Unable to find the point, I uploaded it to an AI to summarize. The AI gave me three sleek bullet points. I read them and realized: there was zero actual thinking in this entire document.

It was a giant jar of corporate mayonnaise – smooth, well-blended, and completely flavorless. Someone had typed a lazy prompt into ChatGPT, copied the output, pasted it onto a slide deck, and called it a day.

In our rush to delegate work to AI, we are quietly committing the ultimate corporate crime: we are outsourcing our brain cells.

The Trap of “Synthetic Fluency”

AI excels at making garbage sound like Harvard research. But fluency is not thought.

When you ask AI to write something without giving it your original idea, it uses statistical probability to give you the exact average of human thought.

If your work product is just the average of the internet, why is the company paying you a salary? They could just buy a ChatGPT Plus subscription and save a few lakhs a year.

3 Rules to Keep Your Job

1. Never Start with a Blank Prompt: Spend two minutes on a notepad first. Decide what you actually think. If you don’t have an opinion, don’t press Enter.
2. Use AI as a Roast Master, Not an Author: Paste your idea and ask: “Act as a cynical CFO and tear this proposal apart”. Let it roast your logic so your boss doesn’t have to.
3. The “Surprise Meeting” Test: If your Director calls you into a cabin and asks you to explain slide 3 without looking at your laptop, can you do it? If the answer is “Umm, AI wrote that”, update your resume.

The Bottom Line

Formatting slides and polishing grammar are now commodities.

AI can do the heavy lifting, the proofreading, and the summary. But the moment you stop bringing your own point of view to the table, you aren’t using AI – you’re just acting as a middleman between two computers.

Use the machine to accelerate, not to hibernate. Keep your hand on the wheel!
